West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
"West Ham would deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go

Sam Allardyce is yet to sign a new contract despite leading West Ham to their longest run of success in 15 years

If West Ham decide to dispense with the services of Sam Allardyce, they will deeply regret it.

Allardyce is yet to sign a new contract to replace the one that expires at the end of the season, and while there has been no contact between him and Sunderland, there is nothing to stop someone coming in and pinching the manager who has led West Ham to their longest run of success in 15 years.

Not since the last century have West Ham spent three consecutive seasons outside the Premier League's bottom six, as looks almost certain to happen again this season. The hard-fought 1-0 win over Sunderland was a rejoinder to those who feel West Ham switched off after the New Year with safety already secured.

And while Allardyce teams are occasionally susceptible to sudden and inexplicable cold spells, it would be short-term thinking of the most egregious order to allow him to leave this summer.

“At the end of the season we will look at the squad and say it is capable of this but not able to sustain that and if we get more players in which we have to do to build the club and grow and make sure we sustain the growth we are achieving at this point in time,” Allardyce said after the 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Don't bother trying to make sense of it - it's complete gibberish. But while Allardyce may not be the most eloquent of speakers, he could scarcely have done a better job on the pitch this season. With a move to the Olympic Stadium imminent, Allardyce deserves a chance to take West Ham to the next level.

Doubtless Allardyce, his bargaining position much improved since this time last year, will demand significant transfer funds to turn West Ham into a regular top-eight club. And there remain mumblings over the style of football (actually: not that bad) and his failure to nurture the academy.

But surely it is no coincidence that every single club to have sacked Allardyce in the last two decades has ended up getting relegated within a handful of seasons. West Ham should look before they leap."

"I think Newcastle are fans are well happy they got rid of Sam."

They did go down after they got rid off him but got up like us in the first attempt but if that would not have been the case they would probably regret it more, but it is more to do with the manager they appointed though if you ask me, that is why we should only consider not renewing his contract if we have someone better lined up...

I was there at that game in the Reebok stadium - were you ?
Roeder threw it away by playing Kanute up front on his own. Later, to late, he put Les Ferdinand on with Defoe and the game swung our way but the fact is that game was there for the taking and the reverse result would have sent Bolton down - not WHU

Not so much Bolton and Blackburn, but their gates of less than 20k probably mean he was right for them. Not for us though.

Or, I'm going to really enjoy it here when BFS doesn't get a new contract

... And of course Newcastle

They should only consider not renewing Sams contract if they have a PROPER high profile replacement lined up, if not then Sam is still the man...

Well it depends on who would replace him doesn't it ... ?

Must do better than Bolton and Blackburn that is for sure.

Joke

I have said pretty much the same thing on here in the past. He did the salvage and steady the ship bit but he does not have the skills required to fully restore it.

If he had a year to go on his contract I wouldn't be clamouring for him to be replaced but the end of his contract seems the perfect time to go separate ways.

The skills & mindset required to prevent a company failing are different to those required to help a company progress and expand: anybody who says otherwise clearly has not had a job holding full responsibility in either area - it is most definitely NOT a few steps higher up the same ladder.

Allerdyce is undoubtedly good at rot-stopping, but his actions over the last couple of years suggest he lacks the skills and vision to take the club outside his comfort zone and up to the next level.

In reality he should stick to what he does well and look for other clubs to turn around...unless he simply views West Ham as a pocket-money generator to be milked until the day he decides to retire.

NONE of the clubs above us at the moment, plus a fair few below us as well, would offer Allardyce a job.
Doesn't that tell you something? ( question addressed to his apologists).

Dapablo, but being a 'top 10 club' is not what this thread is about.

The opening post is a journalists proposition, that the club could only move backwards, if Allardyce left.

People have in the main been discussing that.

Do you think that the owners would be happy with finishing 9th/10th for the next 5 seasons following our move? Do you think that they might be considering options, given that hs contract is almost over? They may settle with him, they may decide otherwise.

That's the kind of things that are being discussed.

Course there is also room for your pointless condescending posts, that offer fuck all.

So we're now a top ten club, that's good to hear, looking up.

People are moaning about what again, no-ones paying them any attention or something?

if Allardyce is so great, perhaps the author of this sycophantic drivel might ask why he never recommended Allardyce for any vacancies at other top ten Premiership clubs ?
